Dividend Income - December & Year 2024, Goals for the year 2025

December, the last month of the year, has passed and with it, 2024 is already history. It's time to report my dividend income and take a look at how the year went and set goals for 2025. The dividend income for the last month of the year was as follows:

My Total dividends in December are €3,614.48 ($3,789.11). After taxes, my net dividend income is €2,684.89 ($2,760.39). In year 2023, my net dividend income in December was €1,958.37 ($2,143.88). My portfolio's net dividend income increased by €726.52 or 37.1% to compared the same month of previous year.

This net passive income of €2,648.89 means that I received €86.61 every day or €3.61 every hour during December, regardless of what I did. For the year 2024, the corresponding amounts are comfortable €66.65 per day and €2.78 per hour.

Compared to the previous year, there have been some changes to the dividend income of December. Changes in payment dates, last year KESKO paid in December, now pay date will be in January. Two new dividend payers have joined to the portfolio, namely ES and JGPI.DE, while INTC and WBA has left it, WRK merged with Smurfit and now pays its dividend in December, instead of November as before. Additional purchase such WTRG, WEC, NEE, LYB and CNR.TO. Compared to a year ago, the holdings also included some nice dividend increases like V, AFL and ADM but unfortunately also dividend cut from SDIV. On August 15, 2024, AVANCE announced the sale of our remaining 12 VLGCs to BW LPG and we have so far delivered four of the 12 VLGCs to BW LPG with the remaining eight ships scheduled for delivery to BW LPG prior end of the year. As a result, AVANCE paid a huge dividend in December.

This month's dividend increased my cumulative net dividend income € 180,762.22

Net income / expenditure

  • Net passive income for December was €2,648.89 and net income for the whole year was €24,394.49.

  • Total expenditure for December was €1,202.75 and total expenditure for the whole year was €14,699.20.

  • The result for December was €1,482.14 and result for the whole year was €9,695.29.

Dividend Income 2024

My total passive income for 2024 reached €32,851.73 ($35,548.78), after tax payments, my net passive income is €24,394.49 ($26,065.30), so I clearly exceeded my net passive income target for 2024, which was €23,500.00. Compared to the last year, my net dividend income increased by €2,310.77 or 10.46%. The year 2024 went really well in terms of passive income, the main reason for the large overshoot was the high dividends paid by AVANCE, which will not continue in the coming year. My passive net income covered all my expenses, so for the third year in a row I was financially independent.

Goals for 2025

Now that I have achieved financial independence, my intention is mainly to reinvest most of the dividends, focus on enjoying life and a nice dividend stream, and work a little less. My plan is to continue adding JEIP.DE and JEQP.DE to my portfolio on a monthly basis, and to add some other holdings to my portfolio as the opportunity becomes available. Exchange rate developments have a big impact on the achievement of this objective, as about 75% of my passive income comes in currencies other than the euro. Therefore, for this year, I am setting a target of €25,000 in net passive income.

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned stocks except INTC and WBA.
