“Union Pacific continues to drive strong and growing cash returns for our shareholders,” said Jennifer Hamann, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “Today’s action delivers on that commitment and marks our 19th consecutive year of increased annual dividends per share.”

Union Pacific Corporation is a Dividend Contenders with a 18 year streak of dividend increases. Dividend growth rates for 1, 3, 5 and 10 years are 1.5, 7.2, 7.4 and 11.3 (Dividend Champions.xls)

As an owner of 22 shares of UNP, the recent dividend increase adds $2.62 to my projected annual net dividend income.

The increase was the same four cents as a year ago, so it was in line with my expectations.

This is the fifth dividend increase I've received from Union Pacific since I initiated my position in February 2020. Over that time, the quarterly dividend has grown reasonably from $0.97 to $1.38 per share, representing a total increase of 42.3%.

The moment of writing, UNP’s weight of my portfolio is about 0.59% and its share of future annual dividend income is approximately 0.34%.

Following this increase, my yield on cost is 3.42%.
