January 9, 2024


  • I purchased 25shares of NextEra Energy, Inc. (NEE) at $62.43 per share plus commission.


At today's exchange rate, that purchase 25 shares of NextEra Energy will increase €31.77 of my expected annual net dividend income. Following this acquisition, the portfolio now contains a total of 70 NextEra Energy shares at an average purchase price of $65.09 and yield on cost is 2.87%. After this acquisition, NEE ’s weight of my portfolio is about 0.59% and its share of future annual dividend income is approximately 0.41%.


January 11, 2024


  • I opened a new position and purchased 20 shares of Eversource Energy (ES) at $56.75 per share plus commission.


At today's exchange rate, that purchase 20 shares of Eversource will increase €36.69 of my expected annual net dividend income. With purchase price $56.75 plus commission ($5.48) my starting yield on cost is 4.73%. After this acquisition, ES’s weight of my portfolio is about 0.16% and its share of future annual dividend income is approximately 0.17%.

  • Eversource Energy (ES) Announces Fourth Quarter 2023 Impairment; ES saying it expects to record after-tax impairment charges of $1.4B-$1.6B in Q4 on rising costs related to its 50% ownership interest in the South Fork Wind, Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind projects. ES said also it is in "advanced, exclusive negotiations" with a buyer, which it calls "a leading global private infrastructure investor," to sell its ownership interest in the three projects.


  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) to Acquire Ambrx; JNJ announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ambrx Biopharma, Inc., or Ambrx (NASDAQ: AMAM), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with a proprietary synthetic biology technology platform to design and develop next-generation antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), in an all-cash merger transaction for a total equity value of approximately $2.0 billion, or $1.9 billion net of estimated cash acquired.


  • Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) was awarded a $312M cost-plus-incentive-fee modification to a previously awarded, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

  • Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) was awarded a $101.51M cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for AEGIS development and test sites operation and maintenance.


January 10, 2024


  • General Dynamics Corporation's NASSCO unit has secured a not-to-exceed $438.52 million cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded undefinitized contract action for the maintenance, modernization, and repair of USS Chung-Hoon and USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) fiscal 2024 Depot Maintenance Period availabilities. GD's Information Technology unit has secured a $170.80 million task order for Air Force Civil Engineer Center Control System cybersecurity services.


  • W. P. Carey Inc. (WPC) Announces 2023 Investment Volume of $1.3 Billion; WPC announced investment volume for the 2023 full year of approximately $1.3 billion, including investments totaling approximately $320 million completed during the fourth quarter. From a geographic perspective, approximately 80% of its 2023 volume was in North America and 20% was in Europe.


January 11, 2024




  • Canadian Utilities Limited (TSE:CU) Increased Quarterly Dividend; CU declared a first quarter dividend of C$45.31 cents per Class A non-voting (TSX:CU) and Class B common share (TSX:CU.X), a one percent increase over the C$44.86 cents paid in each of the four previous quarters. This common share dividend is payable March 1, 2024, to shareholders of record on February 1, 2024.
