Thursday, February 18th the Board of Directors of The Coca-Cola Company (KO) announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $ 0.41 to $ 0.42 per share that’s payable April 1, 2021 to holders of record March 15, 2021. This represents a 2.44% increase over the last quarter dividend. This was the company’s 59th consecutive annual dividend increase.
The company returned $7 billion in dividends to shareowners in 2020, bringing the total amount given back to shareowners through dividends since Jan. 1, 2010, to $61.9 billion.
With current price $ 50.63 (yesterday's close), this raise brings their dividend yield to 3.32%.
KO is a Dividend Champions with a 59 year streak of dividend increases. Dividend growth rates for 1, 3, 5 and 10 years are 2.5, 3.5, 4.4 and 6.4 (Dividend Champions.xls)
Since I own 150 shares of KO, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by $ 4.47.
This increase was in line with my expectations.
This is the eighth dividend increase I've received from Coca-Cola since initiating a position in October 2013. During this period, the quarterly dividend has risen moderately from $ 0.28 to $ 0.42 or 50 percent.
This increase raises my YOC to 4.49%.
Wednesday, February 17th the Board of Directors of Nutrien Ltd. (NTR) announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $ 0.45 to $ 0.46 per share that’s payable April 15, 2021 to holders of record March 31, 2021. This represents a 2.22% increase over the last quarter dividend.
With current price $ 56.50 (yesterday's close), this raise brings their dividend yield to 3.25%.
Nutrien Ltd. was created in 2018 as a result of the merger between PotashCorp and Agrium. This was a third dividend increase after the merger.
Since I own 55 shares of NTR, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by $ 1.64.
The dividend increase was a surprise, even though it was small, I’ll be happy to take it.
This increase raises my YOC to 4.39%.
