What type of withholding taxes do you get dinged with holding foreign stocks where you live? Also can you cailm the withheld amount on your taxes toward your income?
ReplyDeleteAlso good article list as I have read most of them already and will go through the rest now!
Hi AG
DeleteWithholding tax I pay usually 15% of the dividends paid by foreign companies, it depends on the company's home country. Capital and income taxes in Finland are taxed separately. The total tax on capital gains is 30%, but the dividend income tax is 25.5%.
Thanks for stopping by!

It's always great receiving payment in a passive manner. Foreign stocks can be a pain sometimes with taxes and withholding etc. I used to own TOT a while back and every time I got that dividend payment I was automatically dinged. Still it was yielding close to 5% at the time and was a great stock to own so can't complain. Just have to watch out for those juicy foreign dividend yields as you won't get that full amount.
ReplyDeleteHi Dividend Hawk, nice purchase of those ARCP shares. Solid piece of passive income :)
