September is already halfway over, which means it’s time for one of my favorite updates: reviewing the dividend income my portfolio delivered in August.
In August 2026, my portfolios generated a gross total of €2,033.86 ($2,346.79) in dividends and distributions. After withholding taxes, the net amount received was €1,503.23 ($1,734.60).
That breaks down to:
- €48.49 per day
- €2.02 per hour
Year-over-Year Comparison
Compared to August 2025 (net €1,357.55), this is an increase of €145.68 or +10.7 %.Two notable factors influenced the comparison:
- Telia (TELIA1) paid in July this year instead of August (as it did in 2025).
- Nordea (NDA) switched from an annual to a semi-annual dividend schedule, resulting in an extra payment this year.
Portfolio Changes
Position growth
- Increased stakes in ONEOK (OKE), National Retail Properties (NNN), Main Street Capital (MAIN), and JEQP.DE
Position reduction
- Sold approximately one-third of Eaton (ETN) holdings
Dividend increases
- Several holdings raised payouts, most notably NN Group (NN.AS) and Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO)
Where the Money Came From in August 2026
- Nordea (NDA) → €155.38
- Verizon (VZ) → €153.00
- Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO) → €131.47
- AbbVie (ABBV) → €121.34
- Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) → €108.83
- ONEOK (OKE) → €101.83
Strong monthly contributors
- JPM Nasdaq Equity Premium Income (JEQP.DE) → €114.73
- JPM Global Equity Premium Income (JGPI.DE) → €69.83
- Main Street Capital (MAIN) → €45.94
- Realty Income (O) → €44.83
Year-to-Date & Cumulative Progress
By the end of August, net dividend income for 2026 reached €16,421.45 → Average €67.58 per day / €2.82 per hour YTD.
This month’s dividends increased my all-time cumulative net dividend income to
€221,639.27
€221,639.27
2026 Target Update
With eight months now complete, I’ve collected 67.0% of my €24,500 net passive income goal for the year. The portfolio remains firmly on track, and the overall progress toward the annual target is encouraging. Exchange rate fluctuations will continue to influence the final result, but I remain optimistic about reaching the goal.
Final Thoughts
August delivered another clean month of growth. The combination of position increases in high-quality names, the NDA schedule change, and ongoing dividend raises continues to strengthen the income stream.
September is usually a strong month, and the overall progress toward the annual target remains encouraging. I’m optimistic about how the year is shaping up and will be back with an update once the September numbers are in.
Happy investing!
Disclosure: I hold long positions in all the above-mentioned stocks and ETFs.
