Dividend Income - April 2020

A month has passed again and it is time to report my dividend income. In April 2020 my portfolio dividend income was as follows:

My Total dividends in April are € 3,045.46 ($ 3,312.50). After tax payments, net dividend income is € 2,264.19 ($ 2,462.70). In year 2019, my net dividend income in April was € 4400.96 ($ 4,954.58). My portfolio's net dividend income decreased by € 2,136.77 or 48.6% to compared the same month of last year. The main reason for this is the corona virus epidemic. Several companies like Fortum, Neste, Orion and Kesko postponed the annual general meetings and due to this, the dividend payment was also postponed. Sampo, Telia, NCC and Bonava withdrew their previous dividend proposal and either reduced the dividend as Sampo and Telia or removed the entire dividend as NCC and Bonava. Most of the dividends normally paid during April were postponed; the effect of the cuts would appear to be around € 450 of net dividends.

This month's dividend increased my cumulative net dividend income € 82,726.06.

After April my net dividend income is € 5,326.80 ($ 5,850.35), so I have now collected 30% of my target net passive income for this year, which is €18,000.00. As I mentioned earlier some companies of my portfolio have already cut, postponed or cancelled dividend payments. Because of this, it is highly unlikely that I will reach my target for dividend income in 2020. I'm pretty sure that the unpleasant news will be more during the summer and the rest of the year. However, I will continue, according to my own plan and make purchases from what I think are good dividend-paying companies. One day, even this crisis will be over and then the return to the “normal” situation starts. When it will happen, time will show.

  3. I still think you had a solid month Hawk. We are living in crazy times and unfortunately, we are seeing more and more companies cut or suspend their dividends. Yet, we are also seeing companies continually raise their dividends as well. Your portfolio and the amount of dividends you received, even with the cuts, is inspiring. I'm looking forward to future updates.
